It's simple, send in a registration form with your basic information and payment and then just email or call your registration in when you'd like to take a class.


(The 24 hours must be spent in a 2 year period of time. The 2 year requirement begins with the first course taken and does not need to run concurrent with your State renewal date.)

Stacking: You will NOT receive credit for any classroom CE course if you have taken the same course from FSI of Western Michigan during your two-year cycle. It is your responsibility to track the courses taken (see link to State below.) If you are denied credit by the Insurance Department for “stacking” refunds or credits will NOT be given.

Class Overviews:

Annuities and Retirement Planning: This course provides the agent with a basic understanding of fixed variable and indexed annuities, their function purpose and use as funding vehicles for retirement plans.

Business Insurance - Corporation: Provides a basic understanding of the needs of a corporation relative to a death, disability or retirement of its principal owner(s)-shareholder.  This seminar will focus on types of corporations with specific reference to the needs and problems of the close corporation and how insurance products can be used to solve these problems.

Disability Income: To provide an agent with basic understanding of the Disability Income product, policy types and benefits, and its application in solving individual and business needs with regard to the risk of loss of income.

Ethics: The Ethics course satisfies the three requirements from the State of Michigan for all insurance agents. It provides an insight and understanding into the agent and insurer's responsibility for ethical conduct and behavior when dealing with each other and the consumer. This class provides you with the required 3 hours of Ethics.

Financial Planning and Risk: Provides the agent with some background regarding risk management as part of the financial planning process.  Specific emphasis will be placed on the types of economic risk and the types of insurance products available to cope with these risks.

Fraud Awareness: This course provides awareness of the cost, scope and impact of insurance fraud for the insurance industry. The focus is on insurance agents and claims personnel with reference to fraud awareness, types of fraud, perpetrators of fraud and anti-insurance fraud efforts.

Health and Welfare Plans: To provide insurance agents with a detailed summary or overview of health and welfare plans with emphasis on employee and employer needs and considerations, taxation, general characteristics and advantages and disadvantages of such plans.

HSA's the Basics: Provides agents with an overview of how HSA’s & HRA's work and the rules for establishing them. In addition to the How, the Why and Suitability is reviewed.

Insurers Responsibilities to Agents: To provide a general understanding of insurer compliance requirements and directives regarding confidential information, conflicts of interests, gifts and related concerns as well as a discussion of the role of the insurer regarding ethical standards in agent support, training, commission structures and regulatory matters. This class provides you with 2 credit hours of Ethics and can be used to the total 24 required

Long Term Care: Provides the agent with a basic understanding of the needs of the senior citizens with regard to nursing home expenses and available options along with a general knowledge of the LTC insurance product designs, including benefits, costs, policy provisions and features.  In addition, a review of regulations pertaining to LTC insurance and the suitability of recommendations made by a licensed producer are discussed.

Managed Health Care: After attending this class you will have a working knowledge of managed health care concepts and an understanding of how managed care plans relate to general health care costs and traditional health plans.

Medicare Supplements: Provides a basic understanding of Medicare, the need for Medicare Supplements and their application in solving the needs of the senior citizen.

Nursing Home Insurance: Provides a general presentation and discussion of the needs and problems associated with a nursing home confinement including cost considerations, sources of funds available for such confinements and a thorough discussion of the principal benefits and provisions of the long term care insurance policy.

Probate Court/Trust: To provide agents with a general background and understanding of the problems of the probate process and its effects on individuals and estates.  In addition, the course provides a working knowledge of the purpose and function, advantages and considerations of various types of living trusts as devices to prevent the problems of probate.

Responsibilities of Agents: Makes the agent aware of agent/agency duties that create susceptibility to law suits that arise out of a failure to provide suitable products or services and failures to keep proper confidentiality. It promotes proper business practices and professionalism and educates agents on responsibilities due to the most recent legislation.

Senior Citizen Needs: Provides a basic understanding of Medicare, the need for Medicare Supplements, Long Tern Care insurance and Social Security so that the agent can effectively deal with the needs and problems of the senior citizen.

Self Funding: This course will serve as a primer for agents entering the Self-Funding health insurance marketplace. 

Wellness Plans: Educates agents and employers on the benefits implementing wellness programs to help employees improve their health. This course covers alternatives in helping to control health care costs and increasing productivity.
